Applications are open for editor-in-chief and head designer for swine in 2025. We’re looking for students with at least one year left of their degree, who are passionate about continuing the vision for swine magazine. Please keep in mind these roles are big time commitments.

Editor-in-chief role

The editor-in-chief of swine manages email enquiries, edits pieces, proofreads the mocked up magazine, selects imagery, plans events, runs the social media accounts and website and decides on themes. This is an honorarium role, meaning the editor will receive a payment per issue.

Who can apply?

All current Swinburne students are welcome to apply but preference will be given to those with experience sub-editing for swine. Also, students who are studying relevant degrees such as writing and editing/publishing or journalism will be given preference.

Head designer role

The head designer is responsible for designing each issue – 4 digital and 2 print issues a year. They also design social media posts and assist with organising and running events. This is also an honorarium role.

Who can apply?

Again, applicants must be current Swinburne students with at least a year left of study. Preference will be given to students who are studying communication design, but we are open to applicants from other study areas .

Submissions editor role

This role is voluntary and essentially the editor-in-chief’s right hand. It involves managing submissions, assigning work to sub-editors, editing pieces and proofreading final mocked up issues. Strong organisation and communication skills are needed.

Creative reviewer role

Are you a film connoisseur ? Avid reader? Or music buff ? You may be the perfect fit for our creative reviewer role. You will have a double page spread each issue to review whichever new creative releases take your fancy, whether that’s books, films, tv, music, theatre.
