REVIEW | Kingsman

Think 007 meets Attack the Block. A down-on-his-luck London bloke (Taron Egerton) undergoes training to become an elite secret agent, while his mentor (Colin Firth) attempts to foil a plot by an adorable eco-terrorist (Samuel L Jackson). While the plot may not sound original, this film shines in the minute-to-minute, with satisfying – albeit predictable – story twists, memorable setpieces, and action scenes concerned more with style than the laws of physics. Funny, smart, loud, explosive, but still with a lot to say, Kingsman makes Skyfall look like an episode of Border Patrol; this is a fantastic new action franchise waiting to happen.
